The ones that made the cut
Firstly, Bejeweled. It was developed back in 2001 for desktops and PCs by PopCap Games. In this, players match the jewel-like tiles with each other, causing them to disappear, and thus graduate from one level to another. Also, it has several modes such as Normal mode, Time Trial mode, etc. It has been downloaded for more than 150 million times.
Next up is Centipede, best known for its 80s arcade version. After getting launched on gaming consoles, it proved to be a fruitful venture. Finally, it was released for smartphones through an app.
Centipede also brought in a lot of female gamers. This was a big step in the gaming industry.
Thirdly, there’s King’s Quest. This is the first future fantasy oriented game. It became immediately popular among the players.
This is what Archivist Julia Novakovic says-
“More than any other game of its type, King’s Quest established or reinforced many of the conventions of the adventure games that followed it”
Lastly, there’s Minecraft. This is the best place to showcase virtual creativity skills. More than a game, it is an experience. As the name suggests, it allows gamers to mine resources and form their own establishments.
