Reason Why Nina Dobrev Left The Vampire Diaries After Season 6.

There are some shows which remain irreplaceable in our memories. One of them would be 2009 released Supernatural Teen Drama ‘The Vampire Diaries’. Adapted from L.J Smith’s book of the same name, it was created on-screen by Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec and ran for 8 seasons on CW.

Not only was the show a historic hit among the audience but the lead actors Paul Wesley, Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder received massive accolades and crazy fan following. But ever wondered why the lead Nina Dobrev played the dual roles of an innocent teenage girl ‘Elena Gilbert’ and the evil and manipulative vampire ‘Katherine Pierce’.

Flashback to 2015,

when it was announced that the actress would no longer be a part of ‘The Vampire Diaries’ after Season 6 which was heartbreaking news for fans. Later, Nina Dobrev wrote, “I always knew I wanted Elena’s story to be a six-season adventure, and within those six years I got the journey of a lifetime. I was a human, a vampire, a doppelganger, a crazy immortal, a doppelganger pretending to be human, a human pretending to be a doppelganger,”. She further clarified her stance with Harper Bazaar by saying, “If anything, the fact that [leaving] terrified me drove me even more. I needed to feel that fear of, Oh, my God, what if I never get a job again? That just made me want to work five times as hard to make sure that didn’t happen,”

She went on to explain her understandable reasons and fears in an interview with E Online where she revealed that she wasn’t sure whether or not she would land a job after The Vampire Diaries. She was doubtful of the possibility that she might never work again. And so she left the show to explore her acting journey and to break her image of a teenager.

Back to the present,

The actress has worked with the American shows such as Robot Chicken and Workaholics and Workaholics as well as movies like Let’s Be Cops and XXX: The Return of Xander Cage. Although Dobrev admits to being picky while selecting roles.

For the uninitiated, ‘The Vampire Diaries’ is the story of ‘Elena Gilbert’ who after losing her parents in a car accident lives with her brother Jeremy and falls in love with a 162-year-old vampire ‘Stefan Salvatore’ played by Paul Wesley. Things take a turn when Stefan’s older brother and another vampire ‘Damon Salvatore’ played by Ian Somerhalder enters the fictional town of ‘Mystic Falls’ and Elena slowly finds herself in a love triangle.

While shooting the series, Nina and Ian started dating each other and eventually broke up. It was even speculated that Nina left the show because she was uncomfortable working with her ex to which she denied and said of them both being professional and still being friends with each other. The actress did make the last appearance in the last episode of the last season.
