Elon Musk’s private space company launched veteran NASA Astronauts into space orbit successfully, beginning SpaceX’s first crewed mission. The astronauts are Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley. The trip was originally set for 27th May but had to be rescheduled to 30th May due to bad weather.

This is marked as the first time a private company, rather than a National government, launched astronauts into the space orbit. The company’s ‘Falcon 9’ rocket and Crew Dragon Spacecraft took off from NASA’s Kennedy space center in Florida at 3.22 p.m. ET.

Thousands of people gathered to witness History as two NASA astronauts blasted off from the Space Coast on Saturday in the SpaceX rocket.

In an interview, the SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said, “I’m quite overcome with emotions on this day. It’s hard to talk frankly. It’s been 18 years working towards this goal, so it’s hard to believe it’s happened.”

The successful Saturday’s launch is the second attempt made to send the NASA astronauts into space. The first attempt was unsuccessful due to bad weather conditions. Everyone feared that the weather wouldn’t cooperate on the day of the second attempt too. But everything went smoothly.

SpaceX’s CEO Elon Musk claimed that he couldn’t rest easy until the astronauts arrived safe and sound. They had to arrive at the dock of the International Space Station by Sunday morning.

“We are at the dawn of a new age, and we’re really landing the beginning of the space revolution.” NASA Deputy administrator Jim Morhard told the press ahead of the launch.
